[ Pdf When I Feel Sad (The Way I Feel Books) ↠´ multicultural-literature PDF ] by Cornelia Maude Spelman ¾ This book is a about a guinea pig who sometimes feels sad He talks about all the different things that make him feel this way For example, he talks about when he misses his friends and family, when his friends don t want him to play with him, and when he gets hurt This book is great for preschool curriculum, because the author provides things that he can do to make him feel better when he is sad Additionally his feelings are validated, which is extremely important for young children Teachers could incorporate this book into feelings units, or use this book when children are having tricky times in the classroom It is important to teach children these feelings, so that they can learn to label them when they feel that way.
The book tells of different things that might make us sad, and different things that will help us get over being sad But what I liked most was the part where we are told that it s okay to be sad.

Personal Reaction I liked this book because the illustrations and sentences were all very straight to the point It was a very simple book, making it easy for young students to understand It is the perfect beginner reader book, to get students aquatinted with reading on their own Purpose Use in the Classroom This book would be a good independent read in a kindergarten classroom When I Feel Sad is a good book for students to read by themselves because the sentences are not complex and are easy to sound out The illustrations will also provide them with assistance when it comes to figuring out what the different emotions mean Such as what sad and happy look like and how they are different.
Other This book focuses on emotions which would be useful to talk about with kindergarteners so that they know it is okay to express their emotions but a Picture bookI m still looking for good books for emotional intelligence this did a good job explaining that it s okay to feel sad I would use this with a whole class or an individual student.
I liked this book by Cornelia Maude Spelman, because it was simple and straightforward and definitely applicable to young kids exploring new feelings and understanding them The illustrations by Kathy Parkinson were simple and sweet, showing a little hamster feeling sad in different situations and eventually understanding that it is completely okay to feel sad sometimes.
This would be a great read aloud for preschool or kindergarten because this age level is still navigating through their feelings and there will definitely be times in the younger classrooms where they will see their peers feeling sad This is a very simple book targeted for young ages, and having it in a pre k classroom would help students feel comfortable with their feelings The language in this book is very simp

I liked this book because it was applicable for young kids learning about emotions, it is good for kids to know that it is okay to get sad sometimes and that everyone does It is also good for children to know about the different emotions and know how to handle them positively It helps make kids feel comfortable with their feelings instead of self conscious and understand why they are having those feelings It is a good independent reading book for preschoolers exploring their emotions because they will start to understand that there are different emotions during this time and not just happy and sad The language the author uses is easy for young kids to understand and relate to I also think kids would enjoy this book because it is about a hamster with different feelings and kids think books about animals are funny and e Love the concept but find the suggestions section not very helpful basically just says that being with someone and crying helps you not be sad, but there is that can be helpful for toddlers to learn to do when they re sad.
Nice book on different feelings but a great self help book for kids when they re feeling a certain way I would use this book in my quiet corner calm down area like a reference book for certain situations.
